I went to the start of this thread and clicked on 'solution' it took me to  Comcast Andrew who probably incorrectly marked this as solved ( I guess solved means nothing can be done!) Hi this is off the topic but since you started. there are many things X1 does not have...... no spooling of the laser program you just flipped from so if you change channel in ads then flip back too late to the orriginal channel you cannot go back ...... The Verizon system records both the channel you are watching and the last all the time so it's easy to watch 2 channels at once. - same system allow you to hit record and record the entire show  not just from where you joined it. ( some limitations). THER IS NOT SLOW MO,! Really, NO FRAME BY FRAME , NOTHING! How can you have a good discussion over sports without it! The jump FWD and back is set at 5 minutes......why? And not adjustable! ( there is a secret way from web to change but really?) Sometimes when watching a show in delay you can hit the wrong button , but same as you have been doing, and it jumps to live......so you have to rewind to try to get back to where you were....what a pain. And doesn't always go back! Favorites set up is a pain , takes way to many clicks. THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO LET YOU KNOW WHEN A CHANNEL IS ONE YOU DONT SUBSCRIBE TO BEFORE YOU THINK THE DECRIPTION LOOKS INTERESTING. really!   I could go on and on..... you would think the latest and greatest X1 would have all the bells and whistles that a DVR/ cable box could have after 10-20 years of feed back! my guess is they did not want to pay TIVO for a license to use some of its patents. w ... TerriB i was checking out Fios as I had that until a year ago. They upgraded the guide and got rather jazzy with colors etc.( I thought that was annoying!) i switch to Comcast as we had been with them for 20 years until 5 years ago when I got ticked off with them for not offering existing customers the option to upgrade to the latest box , pre X1, and better deals on the pricing with out me having to go to them and ask for it. Somehow I thought my money I had been sending them was worth something! Dumb! I Felt the same way about Fios a year ago, I was being left behind with old technology , and Comcast was offering 5 at a time recording which was a problem we were running into. I mistakenly thought the latest and greatest X1 box would be better.... But I've since discovered all the low tech limitations of Comcast X1 box.like no slow mo,  no auto recording of the last show so if you channel surf so you can jump back , no channel number on the box cant find much rime or reason for the channel numbers..... and on and on..... I'm at the stage now that getting a $300 Visa card for switching will pay the early cancel fee with Comcast if I switch. The House is already set up  for Fios, they took out the copper wires so I might just switch and get away from Comcast.  Satalite is an option arround here but I want a wire for the Internet. Might even change and if I don't like it do the switch back within 30 days option before I get rid of Comcast. warren Ps my wife will really like reading the guide again too! ... View more

Hi i though I replied but it's not here.  Yes HDMI connection... X1 box to tv. sharpness is set to 49%  i tried changing but could not see any difference. ch 3..... I was watching NBC ( on 803) HD.  Got to the digonostic screen. The font is hard to read too. I can read if I concentrate.  The white background is sort of grey not bright white.   i notice the time line on bottom of regular pic when you hit ok is the same fuzzy edged font as the guide. its this fuzzy edge and inconsistent Brightness of the colors that makes it difficult to view.   It's  like the text in the guide , time line etc is not in the same HD or same quality as the tv. The text is like looking at an old computer CRT mono color screen from the 80's. when we had to look at those computer screens , sometimes green, you has to be 2 feet from the screen to see the simple text we were typing in those days...... is this the problem, the text is not generated in HD because it a overlay on the screen and not part of the real picturer? warren ... Having to adjust your TV to read simple TEXT  is nuts. It should be easy to read at any setting. Every other text is easily read just not the X1 guide provided by Comcast. Hence it is the way Comcast provide the guide TEXT.  Just saw an annoying text ad show for an up coming tv show on the bottom of the program I'm watching. It was clear as a bell. It the X1 guide that is imprecise. Please stop telling us we should be able to read the guide. It just fills up our forum with junk. You have no skin in this problem please but out. Hi TerriB, the font is not just poor contrast but it appears that the brightness of each letter varies not only form the one next to it but within the actual letter itself. I wonder if it is partly caused by have the program playing in the background. I reduced the background program to the lowest brightness ( so that it's almost invisible) but I think it is effecting the letters in the text. Tks ... View more

I took photo from viewing range then cropped photo. but this fuzzy look is what we have and it's just hard to read for any we length of time! its a new Panasonic HD TV. ALSO..... WHY IS THE CHANNEL NUMBER NOT DISPLAYED ON THE BOX? we nolonger know any of the channel numbers so we to keep going the the guide we can't read easily.......how about jus making the font BOLD....... I can figure out how to post a picture but the lettering is just plain fuzzy on the X1. the contrast is not strong enough . The contrast shown in the picturers posted recent show the typical difference  with fios and x1. We are trying to get the best deal to change back to Fois and get out of our 2 yr contract. We can't believe that xi does not continuously recorded 2 channels like FIOS allowing you to swap back between 2 live channels. AND WHY DOES X1 NOT HAVE A SLOW MOTION OPTION.?    I suppose comcast want us to use our smart phones or tablet to control the channels?   ... View more

Look I just changed from fios and while the new guide they had there was annoying it was much more readable, bright text on a dark back ground. I have a 32" tv and a small house and cannot fit anything larger. Current tv is too big already. The font could be the same size regardless of the tv size the same way computer screens do it. All the talk about clever cloud stuff is irrelevant to us the paying consumer. What we want is as good or better that before not going backwards. my pet peeve ......
