Update on my experience: I unplugged/replugged the box for 15/30/60/300 seconds multiple times to no avail. I called the support dept, and a very nice, yet new and unknowledgable rep, assisted me for 55 minutes over the phone. This call consisted of him searching the knowledge base for 45 mins, then finally sent a refresh/reset to the box, to no avail. I then double checked he had the problem documented correctly in the ticket, and he stated I will be getting a call back from tech support. This last part is meant to be constructive feedback, not a knock to Comcast or their support. I am guessing that call volume has increased causing a lot of new reps being thrown onto the phones, but to have a support person not understand the difference between an HDMI cable and a component cable, and how a system might also be hooked up with an optical TOSlink cable to a receiver, seems a little sketchy. I'd recommend part of the onboarding process be that they actually hook up the cable boxes they are supporting in a few different, but common, scenarios, so they become familiar with the equipment they are being asked to support. Just some feedback from a customer to pass along to the managers. Thanks!

I received the X1 system with two X1 boxes 2 weeks ago. Besides for the technician taking my personally purchased cable modem with him when he left (Still waiting on the call back on the "damage claim" I called and reported about that one) everything was working fine. Now, I go and turn on my TV, I get sound out of the receiver (connected to X1 via optical TOSLINK) but no video. It was working fine previously. I troubleshoot, turning box on/off, unplugging for 15 seconds, plugging back in, still get audio fine, no video over HDMI though. I connect component RGB cables, and the video comes through fine over component. Thinking it was my tv HDMI, I plug the DVD player into the TV HDMI port, video comes in fine, so it is not the TV/HDMI port. Calbe works fine and is same cable that was working previously, but just to rule it out, tried a new cable, still no video out from X1 over HDMI. I tried all manner of rebooting the box with HDMI plugged in, unplugged, component plugged in, unplugged, etc. No go. I tried the EXIT-EXIT-EXIT 480/720/1080 trick, and it does switch resolutions, but doesn't affect the output, still just comes out over component, no HDMI. Anyone have any ideas on forcing the X1 to the HDMI output?
