This is not an adequate response from Comcast. I have read numerous complaints from other customers relating this issue. I receive dozens of these calls each day from "800 service" numbers, and I pick up the line waiting for someone to take the call so I can ask them to remove me. I have *never* had a human voice on the other end of these calls, despite waiting for several minutes after answering. As a customer, I am asking if Comcast will enable call blocking for these obvious egregious offenders. I can block SPAM email; why can't I do this with my digital phone line? Please do not reply with "there is nothing we can do". There is actually rather a lot Comcast could do. Up to this point, very little has been DONE, but that doesn't mean you're unable. Enable me to blacklist incoming calls by keying them immediately after receiving the call, directly from my handset. Enable pattern-matching blacklisting. Make your own list of the regular offenders for phone SPAM and block them.
