If there is going to be a charge for data usage, then it is only fair that Comcast verify the accuracy of how they measure it.   After all, wasn't it Comcast's CEO who explained these additional charges as being created to establish fairness?  Perhaps he would do well to expand the fairness theme as it relates to verifying the accuracy of the company's data usage measurement.  Otherwise, the company could arbitrarily charge whatever they wanted.    If Comcast wishes to bill as a utility, wouldn't it be fair to regulate them as one?   Given the potentially enormous scope of this problem, I wonder why there is nothing forthcoming from the FCC and FTC on this... aren't they here to protect the consumer? ... We're sure to have a lot more company here soon as the "trial' for data caps expands to more markets on December 1st... all in the spirit of fairness, of course.   Wonder if anyone at Comcast bothered to weigh the short term benefit of a little extra revenue against the long term destruction of brand loyalty.   Were "fairness" a genuine issue, wouldn't the caps be symmetrical with speed tiers?    Its almost as if Comcast is striving to alienate their current user base...         ... The present Comcast CEO/management is clearly focused upon near term earnings per share at all costs, so suicidal marketing strategies are the rule of the day.   When the market begins to reject this strategy in ever increasing numbers there will be a new CEO/management whose focus will suddenly shift to brand loyalty and customer retention.   Comcast's board of directors and investors would be wise to shine a light on the road ahead and reconsider the company's current humpty-dumpty marketing strategy.   All the king's horses and all the king's men... ... "This is a $360 a year price increase.  Nothing more, nothing less."   Here in Atlanta, removing the data cap costs $420 a year!  How's that for "fairness'?   I don't think anyone would have a problem with data caps providing they were set rationally and priced appropriately... say 300Gb/mo for the lowest speed tier of service progressing up to 2Tb/mo for the 105, 150 and 250mbs levels.  This way the $10 per 50Gb and $30-$35 for unlimited might be more palatable with far less customer fury. ... If data plans are a "test" of "fair use", how are the disparities of its application explained as fair?   - differents cap sizes for different markets?   - different pricing for unlimited use?   - caps are a possible breach of existing service agreements?   - entering the third year of the "test"?   - most service areas have no cap at all?       "The markets that are currently testing usage plans are:   Nashville, Tennessee market: 300 GB per month and additional gigabytes in increments/blocks ( e.g., $10.00 per 50 GB ).    Tucson, Arizona market: Economy Plus through Performance tiers receive 300 GB.
