I noticed that my Xfinity Stream Roku app received an update to version 2.1.5 yesterday (06/22/2017). Among the changes that I noticed are:
A reordering of the widgets on the start screen
For Live TV, a number of new options, specifically:
Setting Filters for the TV listings: HD / CC / SAP / (can't remember the 4th choice)
Guide will only show the filtered results
Improved search capabilities:
Alpha and numeric searching
Search by channel number or channel name
Another search option I hadn't tried yet, possibly search for program title?
(That's all that I noticed in this update.)
Still on my (and many others' ) wish-list:
Specifying favorite channels
Automatically go to last channel watched when selecting Live TV
Showing current program channel when searching the tv listings
Setting of program reminders for upcoming shows
Browse upcoming programs on a per channel basis, that is, switch between multi-channel grid view and single channel view with next several hours of programs listed

I ran into exactly this same issue last night for the first time; I think the alert was stating it was a weekly test. If I recall correctly, the alert specified a time frame of about 15 minutes. During that time window, no program could be watched through the app because the alert would trigger again. Each time required going back to the Roku home screen, and renavigating via the clunky interface to get back to the live channel we were watching.
This cannot be tolerated and must be fixed!
I've posted previously on my thoughts (good/bad/ugly). Having used it on & off over the past few weeks has been a generally positive experience. However, it seems that I am starting to notice some degradation in the quality of the picture recently. For instance, while watching Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies on TNT (Live), the battle action sequences became very smudgy/pixelated; I have a hard-wired Roku3 and no one else in the household was impacting the bandwidth on my network. Also, in general, the picture seems a bit softer, less crisp.
And, finally, as I have mentioned in the past, the closed captioning tends to be a hit-or-miss proposition with the app. We have hearing-impaired individuals who benefit from CC, so this is another must-fix.
The emergency alert makes the app unusable. Once it pops up it will do it's thing then go to a black screen and never return to the channel you were watching. The only way to get out of the black screen is to press the "home" button on the roku remote. After returning to the home screen, then going back into the xfinity app, then going to any channel...wait a few seconds....then the emergency alert starts again and then hangs once again at a black screen.
UNUSABLE, which is unfortunate, as up until this point it was pretty good aside from some user interface issues that need to be addressed.

After using the Roku app for a few days, I am generally pleased. Here is some feedback:
Background info: * Non-X1 Digital Starter + HD subscription, no DVR * Performance (25/5?) Internet * SB6141 Modem (personally owned, not leased) * Roku 3 (4230X) - hard-wired ethernet Likes: * Picture quality very good - no pixelation noticeable (my cable has signal issues on some channels that made HD difficult to watch) * Channel guide shows only subscribed channels, not the entire guide * "Last Watched" button, allowing quick access to previously watched channels * "Saved", which looks like an extension of the "last watched" feature Dislikes/needs fixing: * Closed captioning - inconsistent, frequently lose captioning especially when changing channels and going back. Haven't figured out a reliable way to restore captioning. * Live channel guide starts at channel 2; should remember last watched channel as starting point. * Live programs "buffer" at the end of the program as the next program prepares to play. Typically 30-60 seconds prior to the end of the program. * Occasional lock-up of the app, sometimes requiring reboot of the Roku. Usually happens when starting the app. Suggested improvements: * Better filtering on the channel guide (HD only, favorite channels, etc.) * Better navigation on the channel guide (page-up/page-down scrolling) * Channel information: provide listing of next several hours of programming on the channel * Show current channel while searching the channel guide, either as a transparent background or as a dedicated block in the corner of the guide screen * Set a "reminder" for a future program so that it will automatically switch to that program when it comes on * Ability to remove channels from the "last watched" or "saved" lists. Unsure how deep the channel history list goes.

I am also wondering about a release date. I've been scanning the Xfinity and Roku forums, but I haven't seen anything definitive yet.
Regarding ComcastTenika 's reply -- It's good to see some of the features of the partner app listed. I was wondering about packaging/bundling and pricing ... will it be similar to the Sling TV and Playstation Vue models where there are multiple bundling tiers with different pricing? [SlingTV: Orange/Blue/Orange+Blue; PSVue: Access/Core/Elite]
