xFi Pods
Hello,
I need some range extenders so I went to the Xfinity store to purchase a 3 pack of the xFi Pods. The sales representative told me that I did not have the required Gateway and needed to upgrade my system. I checked the requirements for thexFi Pods and my Gateway is in fact listed as compatible. I don't know, maybe the sales representative knows something other than what is stated on the Xfinity website so I did not purchase the xFi Pods and I am most certainly not going to upgrade my system.
I have an ARRIS Group, Inc. TG1682G, Revision 8.0 Gateway. Is it or isn't it going to work with the xFi Pods? What range extenders do you recommend if they don't? I need WiFi in my basement and I do not want to use another router and Bridge mode as the other people in my house can't even figure out the remote controls.
Thank you.

It says that it is Xfi eligible here;

I saw that before I went in to the Xfinity store. They insisted that the pods would not work with my router. I didn't know if they knew something that wasn't public information.
Thanks though.

I would go to a Xfi store and ask if your ARRIS router qualifies for a (no charge upgrade) and then purchase the thre XOPD kit at $119 , might be better than trying the Eero or Orbie route which can cost more and you have to disable the Xfi router functionality.

A properly functioning LAN shouldn't require that people need to tinker with it. It should just work.
That said, depending on your internet speed, you can either:
