How do I get a 2nd IP address for my Arris T25 cable modem? I have two ethernet ports on back of modem. One plugs into my router and trying to plug the other directly from cable modem to computer but says ethernet doesn't recognize IP address.
In talking with Comcast support, they said only have one IP address so I guess I can't plug from modem to computer since I need the one port for WIFI router. I can run ethernet from computer directly into router but extremely slow speed vs. just having computer use WIFI (no hard wire).
Looked on the xfinity rate sheet for my area and didn't see option to purchase a 2nd IP address.
They are phasing it out but I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. We've seen cases here where they have been able to get this accomplished for customers even when it is not listed in their rate cards, YMMV. You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !
Greetings, @dac3! I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here on the forums. I hope you are having an amazing day! I certainly understand wanting to be able to use the 2nd WAN port on that modem. I can have another look to see if we have a 2nd IP option available in your area. Can you please send me a PM with your first and last name so I may further assist you?
