I have been trying for over a month and have had help from multiple support technicians apparently, no one else has this problem.
My iPhone 11 connects to my xFi network, but will not connect to the Internet. I have to switch wifi on to control the lighting in my apartment and then have to switch it off and use cellular data to access the Internet. I can't backup my iPhone or auto-update my software. This only happens at home and only with this device. I was using iPhone 7 Plus and it connected fine.
I had one technician that was able to get the connection through. I believe he just restarted the Gateway(DPC3941T) over and over until I was able to connect. After leaving for work and returning home, I could not connect to the Internet on the iphone again. All of my other support interactions have ended with me finally running out of time or being sold something and forgetting the original problem. The last one ended with escalating to a higher support level callback that never happened.
I first tried Apple Support and they dismissed it as an xfinity problem when I arrived at the store and was able to connect to their network. I changed phones and to the new internet service at about the same time, so I don't know where the problem originates.
The equipment I am using is iPhone 11 and Cisco Gateway(DPC3941T)
When I look at my xfi network through the app or the Internet, it shows the iPhone device type as an Airport Router and the IOS version is unavailable.
It is extremely frustrating does anyone have any idea what could be the cause?
Thanks for any help.
Sounds like a configuration problem with your iPhone.
First, reset your iPhone's network connections.
(Settings | General | Reset | Reset Network Settings )
Second, go to your xFi dashboard, find the iPhone, and select Forget This Device.
Log on again with your iPhone onto your LAN.
I have had similar problems when router wasn't configured exactly right, i find my iPad and iPhone 8 very touchy to connect. I add 188.8.131.52 to my iphones configure dns setting under manual and then it connects and works normally, I have been told on here that it won't work, but I got that tip off of apple's website and it worked for me, worth a try
