connecting belkin router to current xfi gateway home network

I connected a belkin  4 port/wireless router to the xfi gateway enabled home network by taking the exisitng eithernet cable plugged into my AppleTV device and plugging that into the input port of the router. I then plugged the AppleTV device into the first output port of the router. I now get  "no internet detected" on the AppleTV device. Did I miss a setup step?
