Zoom problems

Life is on Zoom now, but my computer mic is not reliable:  I am told that my sound is breaking up.  I upped my bandwidth, but the upload speed went only from 2.4Mbps to 2.7.   I have tried an external mic, but it made only a little difference, and then  only in a small meeting.  Any suggestions?

Are you using wi-fi?  I find that Zoom and other video calling applications are very sensitive to wi-fi issues – far more so than just browsing, watching videos etc.  I can get quite a bit of variation based on where I am sitting, but switching to an ethernet connect gives me really rock-solid video calls.  Also, you might check to see if Zoom is set to send HD video.  If so, try turning that off so you'll have fewer video bits competing for bandwidth.

For the mic(s) specifically, you might try recording yourself locally (eg: camera app if using Windows) to make sure there is no audio system issue.

There is an audio issue:  I am told that my voice breaks up in Zoom meetings.  I am also told that I need greater upload speed, but subscribing to a higher-priced Comcast package didn't increase either upload or download speed.  I don't know what to do.
