Wired Network

Can anyone help me???  I just need to hook up my desktop to a wired network and I am with Comcast/Xfinity.  I am trying to finish an application for a job and they tested everything and all that failed was my connection is wireless and they want it to be wired.  Can I have 2 modems and work it out somehow???  The modem is across the room from where my desktop is but I do have a phone line where my desktop is???

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

What make/model is your modem/gateway?  Doesn't it have an ethernet port for direct connection to a desktop or connection to a router which would provide extra ethernet ports?  If you need to upgrade your modem, you might be able to do it with no charge.

How are you accessing the application you are filling out?  If you are accessing it online thru the internet over your WiFi connection from your desktop to the modem, I'm not sure why a 'wired' connection would be required to complete the application.  There might be something else going on.

Most companies that have work from home (teleworkers), may work with secure personal information or confidential company information and that work can’t and shouldn’t be done using Wi-Fi. Hardwired in is a more secure connection. This is this particular company’s way of assuring the connection being used.

You’ll need a long Ethernet cord, or possibly use a Wi-Fi extender with an RJ45 jack that you can plug your pc into.

Adding. Many systems will not allow two modems to be used at one address anyway. Even if they do allow it you will need to pay for two accounts (twice what you are paying for HSI now).
