Wifi password

My Gateway recent reset to default network name and password- which I was able to connect to. I went online and I changed it back to my own name and I changed the password back as well. I also merged (not sure term) my 2.4Ghz and my 5.0Ghz as the page suggested.

However when I try to join I am told it is the incorrect password. Even though when I pull up the settings online- it says that network and the identical password.

I tried changing the network name and changing the password and I continue to get declined. I even tried to get online via Alexa to make sure it wasn't an issue with my phone and was still told incorrect password.

Customer Service was unable to assist last night OR this morning due to employee shortages. I'm not home now to try again so I thought I'd try here. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Oh and I ran a diagnostic and restarted the modem multiple times to no avail.

A quick test:

On a phone or laptop, open your wifi settings/networks and forget your network.  Now scan for your wifi network again, and try to join it.  There's a key hash stored on the device that can get confused (iphone especially).  Factory default on some gateways auto-generates different keys (well, they should), so there's a mismatch.

@flatlander3

I did try forgetting the network a couple of times but I can't remember exactly at what point of the process (before or after a reboot of the Gateway and my iPhone). I'm going to bring a laptop home today that has never been on the network and see. Again thanks- let me know if you have any other suggestions!
