My wife works from home and calls customers from her computer. She's been having an issue with calls being dropped, despite all of our devices otherwise working fine. I was wondering if there was some explanation for why this might happen. Could the internet simply be cutting out momentarily and dropping the calls, but otherwise not impacting the function/connection of our other devices?
Hi mmitch556! Thank you for exploring our Forums and for creating a post. I can assist with troubleshooting your internet / voip calling issue. Keeping calls connected over internet requires a pretty stable internet source. Is the machine that is experiencing dropped calls connect via hardwired ethernet? Unstable WiFi bandwidth could possibly be the culprit.
I deal with this everyday. Insanity. I have been working from home since november, have had technicians out here, brought us a whole new motem and it still wont work. My download speeds are *tolerable* but my upload (which is outgoing audio; calling other people, since thats what I do too), drops to less than a 1 Mbps, and customers cant hear me and eventually hang up/get frustrated with me. I just got off the phone with them, AGAIN, and all they told me is that they will open a ticket for me? And I can get my ticket # in 24-48 hours, just to be able to check the status of my issue? Unsure as to how thats supposed to help as I am about to lose my job because of Xfinity. Not sure how them "investigating" my situation will do remotely anything, but if this doesnt work I will be sure to switch to AT&T.
