WiFi Extender - not compatible with new router?

Hi,

I am a new Xfinity internet customer.  My router/modem is model is TECHNICOLOR CGM4140COM.

I recently purchased the following range extender as my home office is pretty far away from my router so liked the idea of using my elecrical circuit as a bridge.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HSQAIQU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

However, the internet service is constantly interuppted when connecting with the range extender.  I also notice that the ethernet light on the back of the router is orange when I plug it into the adapter, whereas pluggin directly into my PC makes the light green.  Is this extender not compatiable with my router?  What do I need to look for the in the specs to ensure compatibility?  Am I best off just getting the pods directly from xfinity?

Thanks

Paul

The reason for the orange light is that the adapter isn't connecting at the full gigbit speed, whereas your PC has a gigabit ethernet adapter and thus the light is green.  Which makes sense as your Powerline adapter is rated for 600 Mbps over ethernet.

As far as why you're having these other issues, you should probably ask TP LInk's tech support.

Ok, thank you for the explanation on the orange light. Since my package is well under 600 mbps that would seem to be a non issue in this case. Will move on the extender support.
