Why?

Why does Xfinity feel the need to disable my ability to alter my WiFi setting to what I want. I should have total control over my own network. My question is, is this only happening with their modems or all? If I bought my own modem, would they allow me to set my wifi up how I see fit?

Re: Why?

Yes. It's only with their rented devices.

Re: Why?

Comcast gateways are consumer-oriented devices and are geared towards ease of set-up and use. If you want more control over your home network, you'll want to use your own equipment. With your own router, you'll be able to set up your network as you please.
