USB to HDMI for internet connection

Can you use the USB port on the back of the xfinity box, convert to HDMI, and plug into a Chrome Book to directly connect to the internet (instead of wireless)?

What I think you want is a USB to Ethernet adapter such as this:

And an ethernet cable.

Your hdmi is an output, not an input and wouldn’t carry any kind of internet connection. The example above isn’t going to work if you want usb out of the gateway

Thanks.  Then what would work for a Chromebook?  How do I get a direct internet connection instead of wifi?

The example above was for USB out of the chromebook.

Chromeboock USB -> Ethernet adaptor -> Ethernet cable -> gateway.
