Switching from ATT: coax v. Ethernet

I currently have ATT with an Ethernet line from the wall. Can i get a modem from Xfinity to use this Ethernet line or must i have an Xfinity coax line coming from my wall? Or possibly just an adapter that converts Ethernet to coax?
