Suggested Upgrading Modem Steps: Swapping out for Newer Wireless Gateway

I Currently have xFi Wireless Gateway Model (XB3) TG1682G for a little over a year now and recently have been experiencing frequent disconnects.  I decided to upgrade to the 

xFi Gateway 3rd Generation (XB7) to see if this resolves the issue because Comcast will not send out a tech with the current Pandemic. 

 

What are the recommended steps to swap out. Should I remove my curent Gateway from the app and then proceed to upgrade to the newer Gateway? I want to retain my current name and PW like it was done when the Comcast tech changed my Wireless Gateway modem, with same model after frequent disconnects  on August of 2018.

 

* By the way, when my XB3 model was replaced at that time with same model,  all lines from pole to house, splitters,  were changed by Comcast tech during that visit.  after all of this,  it was ouside connectivity on my Node with other customers that was causing the disconnects  which required multiple visits  by Comcast techs to determine it was a global issue and not the Modem !  Now the issue repeats itself  1 1/2 years later.
