Speedtests average between 10-35% of what I am paying for.

I have been experiencing a lot of network latency issues. I reset the xFi modem, reset the gateway, checked the cables, and reduced network noise by shutting off a number of wireless devices in the home. After that I am still seeing only 200-300 Mbps of my 1,000 Mbps plan.

Is this with a WiFi connection ? If so, for a test, does a computer hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?

With this test, we are trying to isolate this from being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step of troubleshooting before we proceed any further.
