Short, but regular outages
I seem to lose my connection once or twice a day. It's brief and I've found I don't usually even need to reboot my cable modem. It's USUALLY in the afternoon (but not exclusively). I have a seperate router from cable modem, and I don't loose the home network (so it's either the cable modem or Comcast). I was just wondering if there was a way of figuring out if it's the cable modem, or Comcast. It's usually VERY short so I doubt it would show up if I checked for outages.
If it's Comcast, that's no big deal. It's an excuse to stop working for a few mintues and go to the bathroom. If it's the cable modem, I might want to have a replacement on hand.

For a test, does a computer hardwired directly to the cable modem (no router in the mix) have the same problem ?

I haven't bothered to check because the home network stays up (i.e. all my computers can talk to each other and the printer). Of course I suppose it COULD be on the INPUT end of the router, but honestly, if the everyting connected through the router is still connected, it's probably either the cable modem itself, or the signal is lost going TO the cable modem.
To be sure, next time it goes out, I'll bypass the router and go directly from the cable modem to my desktop.
