Self activating a new modem

I tried to self activate the Arris S33 modem but it then tells me to call Comcast and to make sure everything is connected “finger” tight, which it is. I wanted to switch out my SB8200 which works, but I still had to call for them to activate it since I had the same error message. Is there something wrong with the self activation?
