Power Levels too high ??

I have Arriss SBG7400AC2 wifi modem router and currently experiencing intermittent network connectivity issue and slow speed (sometimes 200 Mbps on a 300 Mbps plan) . I checked with the Arris customer support. They said the power levels are out of line and provided below recommendation :

For Downstream Channel the accepted power level is -15 to +15 dbmv.
For SNR downstream it should be greater than 33 db.
For upstream channel the accepted range for power level is +45 to +51 dbmv.

Currently , my power levels are shown below. Is there any way to adjust these levels or only comcast tech can do it ? There are no splitters involved. It is coz direct from wall to the router.

Also ,what is the optimum level ?

Re: Power Levels too high ??

The downstream power is way too high ! Is there a drop amplifier / powered splitter in the coax line that leads to the modem ? If so, remove it.

Re: Power Levels too high ??

Hi EG,

Thanks for your reply. There is nothing in between. The coax cable runs from the wall straight to the router with nothing in between them.

O/k you could try using two of these 6 dB forward / downstream path only attenuator pads cascaded together behind the modem to cut the power down by 12 dB. It will put the downstream power in spec without adversely affecting the upstream power levels.

Re: Power Levels too high ??

The tech added a signal attenuator in between  the wall outlet and the modem and blocked the signals coming from other signal outputs. This reduced the high upstream and downstream levels. Currently the downstream is between -8 to +8 .

Thanks !!
