Poor internet coverage

There is far point in my home where wireless is weak. We are upgrading service to 1G overall this week (from 300) and replacing TV boxes. Is there an xfinity TV box, that could be used in this remote room, that would allow for an ethernet connection to a laptop? The Xfi Pods help, but not enough. Will going from 300 to 1G improve wireless throughout the house? Any advice appreciated.
