Paused devices still connecting to wifi

I have my sons phone paused on the wifi app because he doesnt help around the house. Somehow hes still connecting to my wifi. How do i stop this?

Having a similar issue, except it's with the Xfinity streaming device. Tried pausing device but doesnt even have the option to do so. Tried pausing a profile, still no joy.
Read in a separate thread many people have the same issue.
