Network setup

I just switched from ATT Uverson to Xfinity.  I had the Uverse router connected to the Netgear AC1750 and was using the AC1750 as and access point.

So I bought the Netgear CM 1000 to connect to the internet and then changed the ac1750 back to a router.

I have not been able to get this to work.  Do I need an Router and not the CM 1000 modem to make this work and continue to use the AC1750 as an access point?

On top of this I also have a netgear gigabit switch to connect all my Ethernet devices.

Network is up.  Simply a matter of rebooting devices in the correct order.  Thank you for your assistance.

First. Did you have the CM1000 modem activated for service by them ? And is the "Online" indicator light lit steadily ?

The online light is on, but I am thinking I am still missing a step.  So the Netgear AC1750 should work as the router for all my ethernet and wifi devices?

Yes, I did go through the activation process and had one computer online.  Then I plug in the Netgear WiFi router model AC1750 and its lite shows internet is up but my laptops can't get anywhwere.  Not sure if I have to use my username and password for the router or if it should just work.
