Need help with xfi gateway

Anyone here good with using a splitter to hook up cable and internet?

I have a 2 way splitter that currently only has one output hookup being used for TV. I am trying to connect my xfi to the other output but when I do, the comcast app wont detect the modem. The input line is a cord that goes into the wall... we dont have any cable outlet hookups. The TV is working fine. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks

Does the "Online" indicator light on the modem light up steadily when you connect it to the splitter after some time passes ?

The light blinks green when the app is searching for the modem.

For a test, what happens when you connect the cord directly to the gateway device (no splitter in the mix) ?

 

Has the gateway device been activated for service yet ?
