Multiple Internet modems

Hi,

Is it possible to use multiple modems on the same network? What I am trying to accomplish: Our modem is in my wife's office and I need a hardwire network connection in my office in the basement. I dont want to run cabling between floors to that modem, but see that I have the splitter in my mechanical room in my basement. If I can connect a second modem these, I can run a network connection from my office to it. I am just not sure this would work and would like to know before investing in a second mdem... Thanks, Jim

Re: Multiple Internet modems

No, not on the same account. The only way to have 2 modems is to open a second account. Do research on moca and adapters (not supplied by Comcast), it sounds more like what you could use

Re: Multiple Internet modems

Many systems will not allow two modems to be used at one address. It's best to call in to see what the local policy is. Even if they do allow it you will need to pay for two accounts (twice what you are paying for HSI now).

Powerline ethernet or MoCA adapters may be an option for you. Google for more info.
