Internet speed slow

I switched from 25mbps to 300mbps at my xfinity services. I have the netgear modem which supports up to 300mpbs, but when I do the speedtest it never crosses 40mpbs. I have chatted multiple times with support and I was supposed to be called twice by a specialist and have never received a call. I hope someone can help me solve this issue... thank you in advance
