IP Conflict while using second port on ARRIS Surfboard modem

Hello,

I am using an ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 with gigabit Xfinity internet service. Since my PC is right next to my cable modem, I've plugged it in directly. The 2nd port on the cable modem goes to my mesh router that only has wired input (no output).

When using both the PC and router, I experience outages on either device. I'm guessing Xfinity is having trouble assigning IPs to the router and PC at the same time. Is Xfinity able to assign two IPs to my cable modem?

They are phasing it out but I can escalate this to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. We've seen cases here where they have been able to get this accomplished for customers. There will be a small additional charge for it. Would you like me to do that ?

You need to have two separate public / WAN IP addresses assigned by Comcast in order for both ports to have simultaneous internet access.

Good evening, CHarding1. You have made a great observation! We also appreciate you posting here for support, you came to the right place for help. EG is exactly correct that it is something that is being phased out. I've only been seeing it in very limited areas as of recently. I would be glad to check your account for you to see what we can find out. To get started, please send me a PM with your first and last name.
