I was in the middle of a zoom and it threw me off. I tried to access my network and ALL the xfinity connections on my block were not visible. Then a few minutes later, my neighbor's new account showed up and the xfinitywifi hotspot kicked in. I am glad they don't know how to turn that "feature" off. I had the automated "help" reset the modem and 30 minutes later, I was back on my neighbor's. Tried calling and waited for 30 minutes and my network came back up and hung up. Then, I got dropped again and wound up on my neighbor's. There are no live chat agents, of course. I don't think anyone actually works there.
The unit is relatively new. This carrier has a monopoly in my neighborhood, so I am stuck with it. Does the public utilities commission govern internet access yet?
If this Is with a WiFi connection, for a test, does a computer / device hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?
With this test, we are trying to isolate this from being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step of troubleshooting before we proceed any further.
