I have a dynamic Ip and my ip wont change.

I have a dynamic Ip and my ip wont change. I tried everything. I waited a week, restarted my modem, and turned off my modem for 2 hours and turned back on and the same Ip.  Reason for wanting to change my Ip is because Im getting ddosed and I can use my internet that I'm paying for.

Does your router have a MAC Address Cloning feature?

If you are using a modem/router gateway device rented from Comcast you'd need to swap it out for another, or put the device in Bridge Mode and add your own router to it.

If you are using a straight cable modem or a gateway in Bridge Mode, changing your router's MAC address and rebooting the modem should cause Comcast to assign a new public IP address.

A tech can do it for you over Chat from your mobile or by phone. You need to request the force reset specifying that you need a new IP otherwise they will just bounce your modem.

If you put the modem in bridged mode as suggested you may not get the result desired - NOC may not be set to accept any MAC in which case you will have to call anyway. Been down that road before. Really just depends on what area you are in.

Nah. A MAC addy change will definitely result in a public / WAN IP address change.

I've seen hundreds of similar requests here in the Forums over the more than a decade, and AFAIK Comcast has never granted a single one. The OP can certainly ask them, but I'd be surprised if they change the IP.

On the IP not changing when MAC is changed, that was not what I meant. Been a while but I have been in older neighborhoods where a new MAC meant a call to Comcast or you pulled an IP but traffic went nowhere.

As far as not getting a new IP by requesting one, just replaced my modem and needed to register it. Tech was being helpful but misunderstood what I needed. First offer I got was to give me a new IP address.

A different device will have a different HFC MAC, which will cause the public IP to change.

That is the HFC MAC addy of the cable modem itself, not the MAC addy of the device that is connected to its LAN interface. When the latter is changed, it forces their DHCP server to assign a new / different public IP address to the connection.
