I can't turn off the wifi hotspot.

I turned it off and it says it is off but even if I turn it on then turn it off the wifi hotspot is always on and I want it off. I know it is my hotspot since it disappears when I unplug the modem so why can't I really disable it?

You could try calling 1800comcast and see if a rep can remotely turn it off for you.

I have the same problem.  I get an error that says "Something has gone wrong, please try again later."

After over 30 minutes with tech support they got it to turn off. Seems the tool on Xfinity under the account/modem settings to turn it off no longer works and they said they are doing changes so Comcast wants customers to call in so support can remove the hotspot (through their tool) from the map.

We spent a couple hours with customer service on 4 different occasions trying to figure out why our xfinitywifi hotspot kept coming back on after it was turned off.  We wanted it off permanently and were never informed that our upgrade would include a public wifi.  Unfortunately, we would notice it turned back on after several days even though Comcast promised us each time it would not come back on again.  Each time talking to a comcast rep, we would reboot everything to make sure it wouldn't reset the hotspot to ON again.  And it didn't ... so it isn't just a reboot that is resetting the hotspot back on.

I found this link to set the public wifi to off:

It has been over a week and it has not come back on.  Fingers crossed that it stays off ... hopefully the problem ISN'T that Comcast routinely turns these hotspots back on to increase their public wifi access whether their customers want it or not.
