Hi, I'm really just trying to figure out how to get average internet. According to Xfinity I have the highest speed available. I pay extra for a speed boost every month. I've never actually seen it be any faster though. It's only been slower than when I had standard internet. I've done Troubleshooting probably several hundred times over the past year... at least. Xfinity always says everything is fine. It usually takes 15-30 minutes for them to say there isn't an issue so that's really fun. I'm just really really tired of it. If another company offered a dialup plan I would jump on it right now because it would be faster. I'm not exaggerating. It's ridiculous.
So, what are my options? Do I need to buy extra gear? Is that what everyone is doing now? I've seen the ads from different companies like Plume. Do we all need additional gear just to get average speeds again? What gear and what companies are best?
I'm really not a computer savvy person so if anyone has any tips I'd really really appreciate it.
This internet literally makes me cry.
* sidenote - it was poopoo before covid. After covid it got much much worse though.
Before I renewed my contract it was really good. I liked the internet then. So, I know it can be good because it used to be. I don't understand what happened but it happened when I renewed. Seems odd to me. It's probably a bizarre coincidence
