Gateway blocking outgoing traffic to work IP address?

Hello,

I believe a security service on my xfinity gateway may be blocking traffic to my work ip address. I am unable to make a vpn connection unless I restart the gateway. Even then, I'm only able to make a connection for a time. Here is a trace route taken just now:

 

1 4 ms 4 ms 4 ms 10.0.0.1
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.
4 * * * Request timed out.
5 * * * Request timed out.
6 * * * Request timed out.
7 * * * Request timed out.
8 * * * Request timed out.


I have the vpn client software on my laptop and desktop. Both use a wireless connection with the gateway. Trace route on both shows time outs after the gateway (10.0.0.1).

 

Gateway is Xfinity Arris TG1682G.
