Frequent T3/connection drops, inconsistent speeds over the last several days

Hello all,

 

I'd like to preface this by saying that while the official Comcast outage detector doesn't show anything in my neighborhood, several 3rd party websites have indicated reports of internet troubles in my area. I also have not changed any hardware or config settings for months, while this problem just started this week (although a very similar problem occurred about 2 months ago and lasted for about a week before spontaneously resolving itself).

 

For several days now my internet has dropped completely for minutes at a time, and that occurs about 4-8 times a day. By "dropped completely," I mean that neither a ethernet-connected nor a wifi-connected device works (the icon in the Windows system tray shows that yellow triangle indicating a connection issue). After about 5 to 10 minutes, the problem resolves itself, and resetting/power cycling the modem does not fix it any more quickly. Furthermore, wifi devices can still access the router during this downtime, so I believe the problem is with the modem or somewhere upstream from there.

 

In addition, the internet intermittently (1-3 times an hour) slows to a crawl -- when this happens, watching a video or a stream at 360p will cause it to buffer for about 15-30 seconds, and the latency meter in an online game I'm playing skyrockets to about 3 seconds from the normal 40 ms. Again, after those 15-30 seconds pass, everything returns to normal, but it happens even more frequently than the complete disconnections I mentioned above.

 

I'm using an Arris SB6183 modem with a TPLink Archer A7 router. My devices connect via wifi, via direct connection to the modem, and via a powerline adapter from the room directly above the modem. I have also power cycled the modem and router many times throughout.
