Firmware installation
I know this has been asked many times, but I can't get a straight answer on who's responsible for firmware installations on customer owned modems. I own a Netgear c7000v2 modem router and multiple Comcast cust svc reps tell me they don't update customer owned hardware. This is contrary to what Netgear and an abundance of information on the internet says. I've even seen other threads on this forum where Comcast reps are able to push updates to customer owned devices. There's a member named @ComcastChe who has been able to assist people with this.
My device recently factory reset on its own presumably after an update was pushed. It's currently running firmware V1.03.01, but the latest deployed firmware version from the manufacturer is V1.02.14 so I'm confused as to how/why it's running a "newer" version. Can someone help with this?

Yes. That's incorrect. The ISP updates the firmware whether or not the device is leased or customer owned.

Thanks for the affirmative replies. I spoke with multiple Netgear tech support reps and they all verified that v1.02.14 is the latest, which doesn't jive with the version pushed to my device. Hoping @ComcastChe or another Comcast rep can chime in.

I have the same version as you and my netgear has been throttled down in speed ever sense the firmware installed. Comcast came out but they said it's the router and to contact netgear...but netgear seems to have the worst customer service. It's intresting to find out it's comcasts firmware that caused the issue.
