Data usage
Alright so I have checked all my devices and total they say I have used around 300gb of data, and that is fairly consistant with my past 5 months of data usage, but now I'm getting messages from Xfinity saying I have used almost all of my mohty 1,024gb of data. I have done nothing different this month as compared to past months. Why is my data usage suddenly 3 times higher?

Same here. There was another thread were many people were complaining of this, but a comcast admin locked the thread.
We never use over 500Gb a month. It's usually around 350GB-450GB.
But this month (for the first time ever in 7 years being with comcast) their metter is accusing us of using 1,700GB.
We've haven't added any new devices, not used anymore interntet than usual, and I can see that only our devices are connected. I have ran virus scans & Malwarebytes scans on all computers, and they are clean.
It seems for me that all this started not long after I received the email that they were upping our download speed for no additional cost.

Same here. My mom has a rarely used iPad and TV connected, and that is it, averaging 5-6 GB usage per month over the last year. Then, September Xfinity says she consumed over 1300GB of data. Xfinity devices doesn't show anything unfamiliar connecting, but I changed WiFi password and disabled the hotspot feature just to be safe. However, we are still showing huge daily usage numbers. Based on stories in this forum, and the now locked megathread, about users having the same experience starting in September, it would seem there is something wrong with the Xfinity metering
I did call Xfinity, spoke to their CSA team, but got no answers, just non-helpful script reading. They did mention they see the spikes starting early September, somewhere between Sep2 - 4, I forget the exact date. However, there is definitely something wrong here.

with infinity internet for over 10yrs never a data usage issue intill the month of Sept. 2019. went for average 50 to 75 a month for years then end of sept 2019 i got the email of the 90% usage they said i used 988 of the 1024 supplied and if i go over the 1024 you got pay them more. this is a glitch on their end talked a couple of hours with different reps with them. they tell you its not them ha not so they need to correct this very soon or i am canceling interenet and all their service for good. they know its the added boost they gave everyone but they wont admit it. they said i was online 4 hours this morning i surely wasnt only under 2 hours so i know they are doubling data usage at a higher rate of speed

Having the same problem It showed up for the first time in Sept. 2019 where my data usage showed at about 3X what it's been since I've been on the current plan, probably going back about 9 months or so.
I may have slighlty increased my viewing of some youtube videos on my smart tv. but not that much.
After reading thise other posts, it looks like something is wrong on Comcast's end.
In my case there is no chance of wifi hacking as both my computer and smart tv are connected via ethernet and in fact. the button on the back of my modem for wifi, is turned off.
I can't tell exactly when it started , but it first showed up in Sept, and just on Oct 1, my data usage is showing at 84 GB. This can't be correct but since I own my own modem, Camcast says they can't isolate what device is causing this.
My tv, computer and voip phone are all working okay, and I thought maybe it was on my end, but now, I'm thinking this is all an issue with Comcast and it needs to be fixed.

My data usage has been around 250GB every month for the last two years...Just last month it went up to 1900GB..no significant changes in device usage...I am not a gamer. Seems very suspicious. Xfinity cannot provide any details on what devices are eating up the data usage..very disappointed..They are forcing you to purchase the $50 extra per month unlimited plan.

This same exact thing is happening to me, and my internet started dropping around the same month, too. My uswage for the last 3 monts was about 300gb, then in september it was 998. Then from between last night until this morning it says I have used 48GB of data. Do you use the xfinity modem for your router or do you have your own router?

Really? Wow this is crazy. this has to be a known issue now. I was on the phone with them for hours last night and they couldn't even tell me which devices were consuming what, then told me to use xfi and I would see every device, with usage. Not true. All I see is the total usage. And it says today I have used nearly 50GB

Okay, how do we escalate this? I mean, it is clear that EVERYONE is having this issue and it happened in the same time frame - Sept. My usage was 250-300 always, then september - 998GB.It is two people in my house and we work and are gone from mon-friday 7-6. This is crazy. I am also irritated that I have a darn limit. Never had that in the past with other carriers.
