Comcast IP# appears on blacklist

The 76.31.27.141 comcast IP appears on 3 of the SORBS blacklists and it is impacting my ability to connect with some websites.

Please advise.

Thank you!

What lists is that IP on? If it's the IP of a residential service customer, note that all Comcast residential IPs are, or should be, on dynamic IP blacklists like the SORBS DUHL (see http://www.sorbs.net/delisting/dul.shtml) and others. You can't remove the IP from such lists, you'd have to replace it with a service that provides static IPs.

I am also having this issue with 73.92.208.102 I've worked for hours with my IT Company and I am unable to connect via Remote Desktop Connection to my server nor can I use VPN Connection to access the files and folders on my server at work. I have been working from home since March and NEED this to get fixed. My IT guy said that Comcast could change it for me so it would get fixed however after reading several different forums I'm concerned now that they won't be able to. All of the blacklisted sites say this:

This blacklist does support a manual request to remove or delist your IP Address from their database. Please note that removal requests that are submitted without addressing the core problem will likely result in your IP Address or Domain being relisted in that database, which can cause subsequent problems and extended listing periods without release.

Comcast has to do something about this and while currently I'm not seeing this affecting my emails on Gmail that I've been made aware of, through diagnosing my issues trying to connect to my work my IT guy said my ip address may have been marked as SPAM or blacklisted.

How do I get my Comcast router ip address changed so I can get back to working effectively?

They won't do it for you. You'd have to:

  • place the device in bridge mode, or
  • swap out the device for another, or
  • replace your rental gateway with customer-owned equipment

Any of those will change your IP, but what lists is that IP on? Dynamic IP blocklists just prevent you from sending email directly to MX servers on port 25, and all Comcast residential IPs are, or should be, on dynamic IP blocklists. If you are on lists of IPs that are a source of abuse like spam, phishing, and such, you have bigger problems.
