Xfinity App and Data Usage?

I have seen numerous responses to this this question but I'd like to try adding a specific aspect to it. I have had the WIFI radios shut off on my xfinity modem and only use my wifi router for wifi. Given this will using the Xfinity App (beta) on our Roku contirbute to my data usage? I have found differing answers on this and even one pointing at an xfinity page saying all streaming even with the xfinity app contributes to our cap. Hence my confusion. Thanks for the help!

Any device connected to your Internet will count.  I have a Chromecast that is not connected to my TV but it is connected by ethernet to my Internet connection; it uses data to do updates and maintenance.

Which tells me that any device that is connected to my Xfinity Internet can potentialy use data that counts against my monthly 1TB limit.
