Xfi Blocking access to home server
I have never had a problem accessing my own server until early january. I believe this is the same time they rolled out this xfi service to all customers. I currently use the rented modem/ router from xfinity.
The correct ports are open. I am able to ping the server and it is listening on the correct ports. I am able to ssh into the server using the private IP no problem but accessing it from the public IP gives me a timed-out error.
Even after disabling Xfi advanced security the connection still seems to time out.
I have talked to numerous tech support ever at level 2 and everyone seems to be delfecting this issue.
Thanks

This is where Xfi shows just how bad it is. Yes, even though you did a port forward it will continue to block all that traffic on that port and send you messages about it. You need to get into every message and hit ok. That's fine if you're home and you let someone see your server, but if you are away on new wifi it won't know your IP and still block you out.
I'm just going to put my gateway in bridge mode and buy a new roouter that I can control.

Disabling Advanced Security is the only thing that worked for me....this was after going back and forth with customer service
