Trying to activate a Nexia bridge unsuccessful

I am trying to activate a Nexia bridge. I have several calls into Nexia support without resolution. They gave me  a list of ports that are necessary but I don't know how to check them without some help and  I can't seem to get a real person on the phone from xfinity to ask.  What do I do?
