Use AirPlay mirror option on your iPad.
rog286713 is correct and the Xfinity TV App is also currently not compatible with AirPlay.

Using Airplay mirroring works with HBO Go but not the Xfinity app. Pity and a shame. We should have that flexibility for the high prices we pay to have this entertainment product in our home. There will will continue to be defectors if this company doesn't catch up with the times, demands of the public and technology.

not a shame a SHAM. If your laptop has an HDMI port it will work with laptop to TV. Comcast is stubborn, they want that $10/month per TV. IF they had intellegent leadersahip they would be offering a streaming option where we could subscribe for online viewing and lose tge cable boxes altogether
I think you will find they don't even support the mac computers all that well. This is the only service I have found that streams so crappy. Choppy video artifacts etc.. This is a complete disappointment. Yet I expect nothing more from the cable company for some reason.
What about when you're traveling, this seems very silly that the xfinity app isn't compatible with airplay. Do you have plans to fix this? If you don't consider these customer service driven requests then I see comcast becoming obsolete.
I couldn't agree more. RIght now I'm so disgusted with comcast. The amount I'm paying is crazy, but what's more maddening is I can't even feel I'm getting my money's worth when I travel.
If You jailbrake your iphone , you can streem everything from IPhone to Apple TV, just do not turn Mirroring ON, only check Apple TV, thats it.

Does the xfinity app work with the roku3?
At this time, the XFINITY TV and TV Go app is not supported on Roku devices.
Why can I not activate the channels i pay for through comcast on my Apple TV???? I am furious about this, and apparently Comcast just doesnt feel like adding this feature? I'm taking my Apple TV back if Comcast does not do something about this. Does anyone know how I can get around this??? I am an angry customer.
Chromecast supports Xfinity. I just play Xfinity from comcast website on my laptop and cast the stream to my TV through Chromecast. Just a little laggy sometimes.
And this is why I have AppleTV, Roku and Chromecast - people think its overkill but they all have their purposes.
Will Xfinity allow its programming to be viewed on the new Apple TV - everyone else seems to be on board.
I tried that. it works for a few seconds, then screen goes black and I get the "content having issues loading"
As long as you are on your home network it shouldn't matter. Whether I'm using my iPad in the bedroom or my AppleTV I should be able to use the Xfinity app on either device. Xfinity needs to pull it together and allow an app for AppleTV.

I can use AppleTV to watch most channel I usually watch including my Xfinity cable plan, like ABC, NBC, AMC, HBOgo. I start with AppleTV 3 in 2015. It worked fine. Now I'm using a New AppleTV. It's a little bit different from the last generation. You need to add the channels by yourself from AppStore. The channel App you download must included in your cable plan. After install the channel App, you need to activate it online then you can stream the show on your AppleTV. For example, you have HBOGO in your cable plan, so you download and install the HBOGO App. At the first time you open the App, it ask you to login, it'll show a code on your screen. You need to grab your iPhone, iPad of laptop to go to the URL www.hbogo.com/activate/ , then choose device/AppleTV, cable provider/ Comcast Xfinity , enter the code, then you need to login with your Comcast account. If you lucky, you can stream HBO show on your AppleTV. Because recently I found the channel App often logout automatically. When I try to login again, sometimes it's not work. When I run the activate process, it will lead me to a page says: "this network is not included in your current Xfinity TV service " I don't know why, but it happens occasionally. I called the support, they said it's network problem and will transfer the call to a special line to fix it.
What a disappointment. All I'm looking for is to be able to watch my recordings on a larger screen than my iPhone when I'm away on vacation.
12/4/17: Trying to use my iPad Air 2 and Apple TV 4K, for that I find that this is prohibited by the Xfinity Stream TV iOS app. (Of course, because if the app was available on Apple TV or I could just stream from my phone, then why would I pay $n.nn / month to rent my X1 cable box? Think of the upset to the entire Xfinity X1 business model if some app deprecated the use of a cable box.). Why doesn’t Xfinity just make this work, but force me to pay a monthly subscription for the app allowing me to be billed on my cable bill? I do not know. It is possible to screen mirror the guide, but as soon as you select a program it throws an error message saying that it’s not allowed.
I was told by a Comcast employee that Apple TV COULD stream the Xfinity app and allow us to replace our cable box. What a waste of money! I guess I now double-down and have to buy a Roku and see if that works?? Sheesh!
