Re: Xfinity Stream frustration
It is the app! I have used a chromecast to stream from my lap top when away from home for years . Suddenly early August I started having audio problems when casting. Xfinity says their app has never supported Chromecast which isn't true. I have an android, and use windows on my laptop, so it isn't an Apple problem. They suggest I use Roku, but can't find out if it will work when not at home. I don't use the app at home, just when visiting family.

the app does not support chromecast nor any streaming to another device. your post is in the app area but the proper place in the forum is the streaming website. keep in mind that the chrome browser must be used, windows OS or apple OS and *nix is not allowed.

Hi @ghasty, Thank you for sharing your feedback here on the Xfinity Forums. Unfortunately, Chromcast is not compatible with the Stream App. As for the Roku, you do have to be connected to your In-Home Wifi network to access your programming Because of the design of the Partner Device (Roku), it can't run the Xfinity Stream app unless it's connected to Xfinity Internet. I hope this helps.

I'm using chromecast this moment for testing and it works fine. it is not like youtube in that the video has a chromecast link. you must be using the chromecast browser and it must be on the same wifi network as the chromecast dongle. use the stacked dots chrome menu and select cast and then select the dongle's name. any issues are browser, PC, your wifi connection, etc. if there was a web page issue there would be hundreds of posts a day about it.

I know I can't cast the app from my mobile device. I use the website. I guess app was the wrong word, should have said web. Problem is, I have always been able to use a chromecast (with my chrome browser) to cast my xfinity tv. I use it when going to my sons home or traveling. I've done this for years. Early in August I started having problems with the audio when casting. It's not my computer, because I can watch and hear on my screen. It's not my chromecast, because Netflix and everything else will cast fine. Only Xfinity and any t.v. channel website I logged into using xfinity. Your customer service had no answer. So I assumed your company had done something to prevent me from casting to a large screen. Do you have an answer to my problem?????
