The Apple TV basically follows the same authorization format at the Roku - the difference being that there is an XFinity option on the page...

As for Apple TV being 'premium' -- it's a $99 box -- pretty much the same price as the newer Roku boxes -- and yeah, I take your points as valid for new devices or other premium devices, but the current Apple TV is pretty simple and you can get them anywhere.  The only pain is tricking it to pull media from a DLNA type server -- and that's an apple thing (they want you in iTunes...).

The PS3 costs more than either Roku or Apple TV and the new HBO Go App is not supported by the fine folks at XFinity 😞

I dunno Dude. Theres more Roku Users then there are APPLETV users I would wager. I just think they were holding out to have a deal with APPLE TV to try to boost sales of APPLE TV. And perhaps APPLE TV was willing to pay Comcast a hefty fee to have exclusive priority on Comcast networks.

Look what Netflix had to do to get better bandwidth with Comcast. Comcast is like the Mob Boss now. Don't get me wrong I am a capitalist but what Comcast is doing isnt Capitolist its Crony Capitolism. Big Difference.

If Comcast really had a superior service they wouldnt have to use the tactics they are using shutting out other competitors they would welcome the competition and strive to be better and offer more conveniant services.

Just got this response from Comcast regarding my PS3 inquiry a week or so ago:

using your Playstation 3 console. Comcast is continually evaluating new
platforms to support for the Online TV Partners like HBOGO, but at this
time have no committed dates to support HBOGO on Roku or PS3. As of this
time HBO GO is already accessible using Xbox 360 and Kindle Fire, but we
still do not have a date on which HBO GO will be available using PS3. We
apologize for this inconvenience.

Well, at least he appologized... seriously annoying.  Why are Comcast the only major cable provider not supporting these other platforms!

Unless there is a mass exodus of Roku users from Comcast, Comcast will continue ignoring our pleas.. I can almost guarantee you that Apple and Microsoft have paid Comcast much like Netflix recently has to ensure delivery of additional features to their products. They will continue to play coy in the public spotlight because that is what they do, and the reps genuinely don't know what's going on with this as it's predominately a manager and C-level issue.

"Evaluating" is simply another way of saying "waiting for our money". Comcast is a terrible company, but we're forced to support them when it's either the only or only reasonable option in the area. I hope for TWC customers' sake that the merger falls apart.

I can't wait to get HBO Go on my Roku, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Roku isn't a big company like Apple or Microsoft, so while they may play ball they can't afford to play with the big boys. Samsung has no excuse in this matter.

Because, although the competition is fierce, they are the greediest and least customer-focused of all the cable/internet companies.

I once worked for a company whose platform they were "evaluating." They never finished, leaving us in limbo forever.

CAN WE PLEASE HAVE HBO GO WITH OUR SUBSCRIPTION?!?!?! It really does not deter from what your services provide but in fact enhances them.  Please consider adding Xfinity to the provider list on HBOGO!!!  Please...

I truly hope someone at Comcast is reading the posts. Once a competitive (can't get Sat TV in my neighborhood due to high buildings and trees) provider, such as FIOS is available at my house, I plan to leave Comcast. The fact that Google Chromecast and Apple products have HBOGo and not Roku is a joke. This wouldn't even be an issue is VOD had the same amount of programs available.

Why dosnt customer support ever resond to any of these post? Is this just a venting form ? they never fix any of the issues.

Simply put, because Comcast wants you to use their own On Demand platform to stream HBO GO on your big screen.

It's worth noting that HBO doesn't have the exact same agreement with all providers. Comcast may have skimped on their payments to HBO and cut corners by not authorizing the service on the more popular platforms.

Word of advice: Get a Chromecast. If it's available on your phone, it's available on the Chromecast. HBO GO supports Chromecast, so it should be a no brainer. Just get the $35 dongle.

+1 for HBO Go on Roku

Shocking that customers have been demanding this for over three years. Comcast doesn't seem to care.

Comcast's On Demand doesn't stream HBO GO.  It has some HBO content, but not all that is available on HBO GO.

ChromeCast would be a major PITA for me (and probably a lot of other people, too).  I only have two HDMI ports on my TV. One for the DVR, and one for my Roku.  I've had to backgrade to component video for my DVD.  I don't want to have to crawl behind my TV swapping HDMI's every time I want to watch HBO GO. (Can you imagine what a hassle that would be for those with wall mounts?)  I also don't want to have to either pull up an app on my phone, or go into another room to pull it up on my PC for every show/movie. I can do that now, if I set my laptop on the TV stand, and plug its' HDMI output into the TV.  I also don't really want to shell out another $35 for a far less elegant, and largely redundant device just to watch one channel. Come on, Comcast - if I can watch it on my phone, computer or tablet, why not my Roku?!?!?
