Xfinity Stream not working on mobile android phone

This week I tried using the Xfinity Stream app as I usually do to watch live content on my mobile android phone. The app works great until I choose a channel, then I get the following message: "We're sorry. This video stream is not playable under the current device conditions. Please disconnect any external devices (including HDMI, screen mirroring, or casting devices) and try again."

It is a mobile phone. There are no other apps running and no external connections to other devices. Only the Wi-Fi & mobile data connection. I shut off Wi-Fi and still get the same message. The phone is not casting to another device and no other devices are signed in and watching the same stream.

I had a similar issue: everything worked except playback! Just a blank screen. A new update just dropped which appears to have fixed it though - check it out.
