When i switched from Verizon to Xfinity i thought it was such a great deal especially since you use the same towers. i told everyone about how much of a grea deal it was, and how it was such a good value. All was well until first i needed customer service and 2 i needed to change my number and was told you cannot select your Area code with xfinity. I found this really elementary but said thats fine just give me a local number. so when i changed my phone number i was given a 313 area code (Detroit) although i dont live in detroit. So after reading on the forums i decided to unlock a number from google voice to port over to xfinity. Upon doing so the first rep told me they would complete this but allow me to use my number until the port was complete. Then boom im 2000 miles away from home and my service is completed deactivated and i cant contact my family or even use GPS. so here i am now i spend 4 hours on the phone with a supervisor who could not get my phone to work and recomended i go to a local xfinty store 15 miles away on the west coast which is like a hour drive. SO i took the advice as i had no other choice, so i print my mapquest out as i have no GPS and go to xfinty just to be told they cannot even look up my account because im not in there region. WOW how does a supervisor do this. I JUST WANT TO PORT MY NUMBER HOW HARD CAN THAT BE. SO now i go next door to verizon and had to purchase a prepaid phone so that i could contact family and use GPS. as im on the way back to my job on my hour drive Boom my phone starts working with A completetly Different (313) number so now for the 5th time i have a different number and not the one i requested. I need help resolving this issue or i will be forced to cancel my Mobile and internet service with Xfinity. I was left stranded and without phone with no support. Techs keep telling me someone will call me later and i ask HOW HOW will you call me if i dont have a phone they just dont CARE. ANYONE who reads this STAY AWAY if you need to select your area code. Xfinity will give you any area code even if its not local. and then not care if your service doesnt WORK. They are the biggest internet provider in the world SO they Do not care about individual customers.
Thanks for posting to the forum and my apologies for the troubles you mention to have encountered. I’m happy to do further research into this for you.
As I gather from your statement, you want to port the number you obtained from Google onto the existing number that you have with XM, is that correct? If so, this type of mobile number transfer onto an existing mobile service line is called a deferred port.
