Netwise Director Service notifications

What specifically is my phone telling me when I get a "Netwise Director Service...managing connectivity" notification?  

(Note: I am not asking how to turn these notifications off).

Thank you for reaching out about the notification you receive on your phone.  After doing some research both in the forums and online it looks like the the Netwise Director Service notification is a setting on Samsung devices to help with connectivity to our network.   Most likely when you receive that notification your device is actively using that service.

Yes ComcastJaredB you have captured what is going on, thank you.  My question is about what that means - what does using that service entail, what is the purpose of the service.  And then further, why is it tied directly to Xfinity Wifi settings (can't turn off Netwise notifications - which btw are everlasting, cannot be cleared - without turning off all Xfinity Wifi Settings notifications).
