Changing shared data amount
I just changed my account to generation 2
lets say I have currently used 500MB of data and I switch from the 1GB plan to the 3GM plan.
Does it pro rate the 500MB, so if at end of billing period total usage was 2.75 GB the data total would be $30.
If total at end end of period was 3.5 Gb I would be billed 30+12=$42 for data.
What happens if if data usage was only 1.5 MB and I changed the plan from 3GB to 1GB before the billing period closed? (Or won’t it let you try that?)

Hello MRNH,
Thank you for reaching out to us through the Xfinity forum. Gladly I will provide additional information for your inquiry.
The answer to your first question is Yes. If you change from 1GB to 3GB during the current billing cycle, the 500MB that you already used would carry over to your new data plan. At the end of that same billing cycle, if your total data usage (including the 500MB that you already used) did not exceed your new 3GB/month amount, the price would be $30.
Your second question entails going over the data amount allocated per your chosen data plan. You are correct. If you exceed the data amount per your chosen plan, each additional GB would be billed at $12.
The answer to your third question is No. The following information is from our official policy document regarding this question;
The only exception is that customers can't change to a smaller amount if they’ve already exceeded that threshold. For example, if a customer on a 10 GB amount has used 7 GB, they’re unable to change to the 3 GB amount.
Thank you again for your time and support.
