Cannot send/receive MMS since phone upgrade
Good evening,
I have had Xfinity Mobile as my provider for about a year. When I signed up, I was using an LG X Charge, and using Textra as my messaging app. When at work or at home, I would have cellular data turned off, and could always send/receive MMS messages effortlessly when at work or at home on wi-fi.
A couple of weeks ago I upgrade to the "better" Motorola g7 Power. Since then, when on wi-fi, I get errors that I cannot receive MMS messages when I'm on wi-fi. I almost always have to turn cellular data on to get them. This is on the same wi-fi connections, which are both fast (especially my home connection). I also believe my phone settings to be correct (the Xfinity Mobile APN was in since the start).
Other than what might be stock on this phone vs. my last one, I have nothing different installed on this phone. I am looking for help into why my MMS messages seem to be blocked. Thank you.

MMS only works with data turned on now. Only way to get around that is to download Verizon Message+. That will work over wifi. I had to do that and use YouMail App for visual voicemail because visual voicemail no longer works on wifi as well. Thank god Youmail does.

Thanks. I've done a bunch of testing of this... the issue even occurs when data is not disabled. Even a simple SMS fails at least 50% of the time, incoming or outgoing, unless wi-fi is shut off (which is not ideal since I don't want to use data when I don't have to). Any thoughts?

Good Morning JudoFlash, thank you for the update. I can appreciate the concern of having to use mobile data for sending and receiving MMS messages. I understand you recently upgraded to the Motorola g7 Power, and you were able to send and receive MMS over WI-FI on the old device.
With technology constantly updating, and the updates to the Android Operating System (OS) recently, there was an update which eliminated the option or function to be able to send and receive MMS messages over WI-FI. We currently do not have a workaround in place, or an expected time for when of if this function will re available once again. Inorder to send and receive MMS you will need to have mobile data enable. There are other 3rd party apps you can utilize to avoid mobile data usage.
However, the issue with MMS should not affect your text messaging at all, it seems something further is occurring. Have you completed any troubleshooting for this concern? If so, what has been completed this far?

I just spent an hour on with technical support chat. The indicated that I will not be able to send/receive any MMS if Wi-Fi is ever enabled on this device. However, I intermittently am able to do so, so I do not believe this to be the case.
I have reset my Wi-FI, mobile, and Bluetooth to default, as well as my access point settings. Not sure if there might be anything in wi-fi calling or anything like that that could be interfering, but really hoping for some guidance to put this to rest. If there is a way someone more advanced can contact me directly to assist, I would appreciate it.
