Xfi Pods

I was looking to buy Xfi pods on Ebay and one seller said they only work with rented routers, not personally owned routers. Is this correct? Why must I buy 3 from Comcast? I only want to try one.

That’s true, the pods only work with compatible rental gateways. If you have your personal equipment, you would need to look in a different direction for extenders.
They only come in packs of 3 and 6

I have an Xfinity router that I bought at Best Buy. Why wouldn’t it work?

Not sure how because I don’t think they were available by retail. But you can always try.

Best Buy's web site lists lots of Arris hardware, but I can find no model 1682G devices.

Are you sure about that model number? Can you post a Best Buy link to it?

So it’s not compatible and you could do better for equipment.

I’m just looking for something to expand my wifi to a garage I recently built and was told xfinity pods would work. Guess I was told wrong

Thanks for the info. Looks like I would need to rent an Xfinity gateway. Not going to happen. I already pay too much.

I had purchased an Xfinity gateway from Best Buy about 6 months ago but I couldn’t get wifi on it so I returned it
